Marketer Talk: A/E/C Networking: How to Work the Room
October 21, 2026
7:45 AM - 9:30 AM
Joeris Training Lab
823 Arion Pkwy
San Antonio, TX 78216

How to Work the Room teaches attendees how to turn event attendance into real relationship capital, from the moment they choose which events to attend through the moment they follow up weeks later. Chris Carruth and Corey Magin of CM Consulting cover how to pick the right events based on clear objectives, target clients, and desired outcomes, then how to maximize time in the room through relationship building, internal handoffs, and market intel. The session closes with three ways to keep those relationships alive after the event ends: relationship transfers, value add follow ups, and non business transactional touchpoints.
Learning Objectives:
- Learn how to identify the right events to attend by defining clear objectives, the target clients who will be there, and the outcomes worth pursuing before committing time to an event.
- Build a framework for maximizing networking time once at an event, including associative relationship building (where a connection may create more value for someone else on your team than for you directly), identifying which internal team member a relationship should transfer to, and gathering market intel worth sharing internally.
- Learn three specific ways to continue a relationship after an event ends: relationship transfers, value add follow ups, and non business transactional outreach.
